Acadience Reading and Math assessments are universal screenings designed to identify students who may be at risk for academic difficulties in reading and math. It is a series of timed, brief assessments used to gauge students’ progress in literacy and numeracy skills from grades K-6 for reading and K-3 for math, with optional use in grades 4-6 for math. These assessments are administered multiple times a year to track student progress and inform instruction.
There are three benchmarks that will be administered throughout the school year: beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of the year. In between the benchmarks, you and your student will participate in progress monitoring meetings. Progress monitoring is a much shorter version of the benchmark. It offers numerous benefits for students, parents and teachers. Through this process we can track progress, guide instruction, and improve student outcomes in everyday learning and in future benchmarks. Benchmarks and progress monitoring will be completed through a virtual Google Meet with your student and their Garfield Online teacher.
